2009 Moorefield Baseball State Tournament

Moorefield Baseball earned its 15th trip to the State Tournament in school history.

Moorefield will face Pocahontas County on Friday at 5 p.m.

The other semifinal is Man vs. Madonna.

Moorefield vs. Pendleton

May 27, 2009

Moorefield Baseball defeated Pendleton County, 4-1 in the WV Class A Region 2 Semifinals.
Trevor Sites, Corey Yakubow, Tucker Smith, and Jordan Ours each had one RBI.
Josh Thorne had eight strikeouts from the mound.


Moorefield will play the winner of the South Harrison/Clay Battelle game in the Regional Final.
The winner will advance to the State Tournament in Charleston to be held at the Appalachian Park, home of the WV Power, the Low-A Minor League Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

WV Class A Region 2 Semifinals

On Tuesday, May 26th- Moorefield Baseball will travel to Franklin to play Pendleton County.
In a tune up game last week, Moorefield played Class AAA Martinsburg and lost 9-2.

East Hardy Regional Game

East Hardy's Softball team lost to South Harrison, 1-0 in eight innings
during the Class A Region 2 Regional Championship Game in Baker.

Moorefield Baseball Perfect Game

Moorefield's Tanner Sherman pitched a perfect game against Union in the WV Class A Region 2 Section 4 playoff game on May 11, 2009. Sherman struck out 12 batters and his defense helped keep the bases clear.
MHS won 17-0.

WV Wild Tournament Champions

WV WILD

The West Virginia Wild 12U Fastpitch team opened their 2009 travel season with a tournament championship at the Front Royal Throwdown. They finished the tournament with an overall record of 4-0, including victories over teams from Front Royal, Warrenton, and Winchester, Virginia.

“This was the best we’ve played. The points don’t reflect it. It wasn’t bad, but it really doesn’t show how well we played,” Moorefield Tennis coach Tara Dearing stated.

NESCAC honors for Josh Orndorff

NESCAC honors

Josh Orndorff was one of four Hamilton College men's track and field athletes who earned 2009 New England Small College Athletic Conference all-conference team honors for his performance in the NESCAC championships at Connecticut College on April 25.

Josh Orndorff '11 (Rio, W.V./East Hardy HS) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 13.88 meters (45-feet-6?). The top three finishers in each event receive all-conference recognition.

Molly Look has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Bridgewater College.
Look averaged 18.1 points per game her senior year to lead East Hardy to the Class A WV State Tournament.

Tanner Burns has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for WV Wesleyan.
Burns was a 2008 WV Class A All-State Second Team Selection
